Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is seeking to fill a Mining Engineer position for Newfoundland.

Mining engineers plan, design, and oversee the development and operation of mines, including the extraction of minerals and ores. They work in a multi-disciplinary field that combines technical knowledge, management skills, and an understanding of the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design and organize the development of mines, facilities, systems and equipment
  • Supervise the extraction of minerals and ores from underground or surface mines.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient development of mines and other operations.
  • Evaluate, plan and oversee the construction of mines.
  • Manage existing mines, supervise contractors, and negotiate variations and remedial works.
  • Assure and control quality and measure work done.

Qualifications: 

  • Background/education specific to mining and mineral processing.
  • 3+ years of direct work experience. Mining engineering experience an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of general engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with decision-making and logical thinking.
  • Ability to problem-solve a variety of issues or problems and mathematical computations and comprehension.
