Human Resources Coordinator – Sheshatshiu, NL

Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with Shushepeshipan Ishpitentamun Mitshuap Inc.
(SIM) in search of a full-time permanent Human Resources Coordinator for their Sheshatshiu, NL location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and administration of a range of HR duties in support of the overall administration and operations of SIM Inc.  The candidate will have a broad knowledge of HR as well as general administrative responsibilities and will be able to work independently and efficiently to ensure completion of HR projects and operations.

Who we are

SIM Inc is an Innu led, Innu managed not for profit organization established to oversee residential  placement resources for Innu children in the care of the Department of Children Seniors and Social  Development (CSSD).

There are three staffed placement homes that include the Shushepeshipan Group Home and two Emergency Placement Homes (EPHs): Manishan Nui Kaishpitenamat Auassa Mitshuap Peik and Nish. All three homes are 24-hour staffed placement homes using the Innu Care Approach and  Practice Framework for operational guidance.

The Job

  • Participate in the SIM’s ’s strategic planning process and implementation
  • Cultivate leadership and ethical values in self and others through modeling and teaching
  • Human Resources Development – Conduct needs analyses to identify and establish priorities regarding human resource development activities
  • Responsible for Compensation & Benefits Management
  • Leads the implementation of the performance management and improvement systems that includes performance development plans and employee development programs for all SIM employees
  • Provide HR related advice and guidance to SIM Managers on approved personnel policies and procedures
  • With SIM managers, implements disciplinary processes with employees as per SIM policy
  • Cultural Knowledge and Support – Promote and provide guidance to enhance and develop Innu culturally relevant programming and services for SIM employees
  • Full cycle employee recruitment and onboarding
  • Working with managers to determine training and professional development needs
  • Providing advice to managers on applicable HR legislation and policy
  • Providing advice and supporting SIM managers in performance management of employees
  • Advising the board on HR policy changes, and applicable legislation,
  • Organizing all HR related forms and documents and managing employee files electronically and manually.

Qualifications

  • Four Year Bachelor Degree in Public/Business Administration, Human Resources, Sociology/Psychology or related field AND three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience and skills in human resources leadership and management

OR

Combination of professional experience and education in public/business administration and human resources leadership

Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates

 
Other Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate in Innu-Aimun is an asset
  • Knowledge of Innu &/or First Nations culture and traditions
  • Strong knowledge of and ability in MS Office and g-suite computer applications
  • High level of professionalism and able to maintain standards of confidentiality and safety
  • Excellent  oral and written  English competency
  • Organizational skills, ability to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines
  • Self-directed individual with initiative, analytical and problem solving skills
