Seaweed Harvester

Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Acadian Seaplants, is seeking to fill Seaweed Harvesters for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick locations.

If you enjoy working on the water and have boating experience with outboard motor operation and are seeking extra income and flexible working hours, then we want you to join the harvest!

How is it done?

Using a company approved cutter-rake, harvesters work from an 18’ – 22’ boat with an outboard motor to cut 4-5 tons of seaweed daily. The 10-14-foot-long rake allows for easy removal of the seaweed and ensures the sustainability of the resource. The rake is designed to cut, rather than pull the seaweed, safeguarding the root (holdfast) for continued growth year over year.

Hours of work:

• Exact working hours are both tide and weather dependant

Qualifications:

• Pleasure Craft Operator card
• Working and/or recreational experience on the water
• Experience operating outboard motors
• Driver’s license and reliable form of transportation preferred (depending on harvest area)
