Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our confidential client, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team in Mount Pearl, NL.

Day-to-day responsibilities will be focused on building a sustainable service and other customers initially and developing working groups for expansion into the future.  Daily responsibilities include overseeing, planning and execute day-to-day operations requests, and supervising staff.  Primary responsibilities include implementation and enforcing the health and safety program, identifying customers’ requirements, providing adequate resources to properly execute a job and collecting necessary paperwork post-job to ensure safety and accounting information is available to safety staff and accounting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare maintenance schedules in line with the organization’s maintenance goals and monitoring PM compliance.
  • Frequently inspect facilities to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance.
  • Provide support and advice during staff recruitment and ensure the proper onboarding and training process.
  • Oversee and enforce good record-keeping practices (be it pen and paper or EMaint).
  • Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details, and assign work to qualified team members.
  • Occasionally inspect the quality of performed maintenance work.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, and any updates to maintenance staff.
  • Check that every single job is executed on time, to the budget, and without compromising building users’ safety.
  • Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility.
  • Keep an eye on materials and spare parts inventory.
  • Help with the development of maintenance procedures and proactive maintenance programs like preventative maintenance.
  • Recommend budget items, contributing to the development of an annual maintenance budget.
  • Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment.
  • Actively participate in projects (e.g. remodeling or renovation).
  • Actively discuss staff-related challenges with senior management.
  • Help with day-to-day equipment maintenance work when needed.
  • Check that the premises are safe and not in violation of any regulations.
  • Oversees DOT Compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet
  • Monitor overall compliance with local, provincial and federal requirements relating to the operation, preventive maintenance.
  • Respond and/or dispatch service personnel to emergency situations during and after normal work hours when required.
  • Ensure all staff are working safely in accordance with safety policies, safe job procedures and safe job practices are being followed.
  • Create a cohesive workplace culture with positive reinforcement and using team building techniques.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with competency assessments of all employees.
  • Co-ordinate work in the morning and throughout the day.
  • Obtain knowledge of all of work being completed and report to management if required.
  • Set up timelines and schedule work.
  • Create work during slow time (i.e. Training on equipment, cleaning shop, dike, trucks, hose repair).
  • Identify on-the-job training for new employees.
  • Ensure only employees that have acquired the knowledge to operate equipment are allowed to do so.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment for jobs.
  • Attend various job sites throughout the day to provide guidance and support, trouble shoot customer and job issues.
  • Deliver supplies to job sites that are required if needed.
  • Ensure all equipment needed for jobs is in place, communicate equipment breakdowns to operations manager and maintenance staff.
  • Ensure work orders are being thoroughly completed.
  • Review and sign-off on timesheets when requested and ensure accuracy.
  • Keep a daily log (journal) of all activities and clearly identify successes and failures to operations manager to reward good work and develop plans for improvements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Background/experience in Shop Maintenance and/or Management is required.
  • 5+ years of Supervision/Management experience, would be an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Industry experience (preferred). Heavy-Duty Truck/Equipment experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Customer service skills and experience.
