David Frew

Associate

David is a proven executive with over 35 years of experience in all facets of Human Resources Management and Strategic Planning (including Enterprise Risk Management). While his experience is broad, his particular interests lie in organizational effectiveness, policy development, strategic planning, performance management, and corporate culture. His experience spans numerous industries including retail, transportation, research, construction, and health care, often in heavily unionized environments. Over his career, David has successfully integrated corporate strategic planning with sound HR policies to create high-performing cultures that engage employees and deliver demonstrable business results. An innovative and collaborative HR leader, he is known for building trusting relationships, and is as comfortable working with Executive and Board members as with front line staff.

In addition to his extensive experience, David’s education includes an MBA and B. Comm. (Hons), and additional training and/or certifications across several areas including leadership, recruitment, strategic planning, facilitation, LEAN, coaching, Board governance and change management. He holds a CHRP designation and is a strong advocate for continuous learning, constantly adding to his knowledge base.

An active volunteer, David has served on several Boards including Chartered Professionals in Human Resources – Newfoundland and Labrador, Canadian Ferry Association, Chartered Professional Accountants NL, Newfoundland Labrador Employer’s Council, St. John’s International Airport Authority, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He has also presented at several conferences and seminars covering various topics related to human resources and strategic planning. A true believer in the power of sport, he has been an active coach and fundraiser in baseball and basketball and continues to be an active participant in several sports.
